Getting Started

The OERxDomains21 conference will be delivered online using three primary tools to make the experience as seamless as possible: 1) Conference Display Site, 2) Youtube Live, and 3) Discord.

By incorporating these three tools we're able to offer different levels of engagement depending on what you have the headspace for, and this also gives us a little protection in the event that one tool decides to stop working. :)
Finally, we don't expect you to be a tech wiz in order to be able to participate. That's what we're here for! Keep reading for more info, and jump to the I Need Help tab if you want to chat with someone directly.

Conference Display Site

Consider this your home base! In short, the Display Site is where you'll be able to see all conference activity in a single space. The OERxDomains conference will have a few presentations happening at once, so if you ever want to hop between presentations, jump into a live Q&A with speakers, check the schedule, etc. this is the place to start.

  • OER1 & OER2 Tracks

OER Tracks are made up of live presentations that will stream in real time on Youtube Live and made available for viewing on the Display site. Live FAQ will be conducted straight from YouTube chat. Click on the Youtube section for more info.

  • Domains21 Track

The Domains21 Track is made up of prerecorded presentations that will be play along with the conference schedule and also be available to attendees in different time zones. Live presentaions will also be added to this loop after the conference.

  • Hallway Chats

Some of the most valuable conversations at conferences tend to happen around the coffee table or in the hallways between presentations. Head over to Discord to speak with other conference participants.

YouTube Live

OER Tracks will broadcast sessions to YouTube Live and
attendees can ask questions to speakers right in the YouTube Chat!

  • 4 Keynotes
  • 61 OER Presentations
  • 21 Domains Presentations
  • 8 Workshops

Live sessions will stream to YouTube Live during the conference. All OERxDomains participants will be able to engage with speakers & other attendees through YouTube Live's Chat. Participants can type in the chat directly from YouTube, or straight from the Display Site (since Chat will be embedded there, too)! All Conference sessions and their related chat conversations will be automatically recorded and saved as an archive after the OERxDomains event ends. This also allows sessions to quickly be available to folks in different time zones that maybe weren't able to catch an earlier session. If you want more information, click the "Learn More about YouTube Live" button below.

Discord

Use Discord for all conversations before, after, and in-between OERxDomains21 sessions! Q&A for the Domains21 track will also happen here as well.

Ways to use Discord during OERxDomains:

  • Introduce yourself to others
  • Share helpful resources
  • Watch #Domains21 sessions
  • Hangout in #hallway-chats
  • Directly message other participants
  • Jump into live Voice Channels
  • Connect with Event Staff for Help
